Vintage is Fabulous

Wearing vintage is one of the best ways to create a unique look - you know no one else will have your fur-trimmed jacket or beaded dress, after all. It can be difficult to pull of a vintage look without being costumey, however, and that's just one of the things that this fun book can teach you. Written by the owner of a vintage store in Brooklyn (a store that I would personally like to shop at), it's packed with fun anecdotes about different pieces of clothing and customers - just the kind of book that's a perfect choice for a long flight.

This book emphasizes that vintage clothing is not just "old clothes", but interesting items that all have a story behind them, whether it's your grandmother's alligator purse or a mink stole you picked up at a consignment shop. Reading this book inspired me to pull my own stash of vintage out of the closet - some of my favorite pieces started their lives long before I was born. Of course, it also inspired me to go shopping to add to my collection. So get the book already - it proves that being stylish is about much more than simply wearing the latest Prada bag and boots.

You can get it on Amazon here.
